Growing up in Ecuador, family members keep a watchful eye out, making sure everyone is well cared for and well fed. Nestled high in the Andes Mountains, thick wool sweaters and steaming bowls of homemade soup warm bodies and hearts. That sense of care shapes how we think about hospitality at La Mesa.
Owned and operated by Juan Yunga and Ann Carlson-Yunga since opening in 2018, La Mesa has become a gathering place — where neighbors stop in during evening walks, regulars become friends, and first-time guests often return. It’s a reflection of the small-town feeling we love about Minneapolis.
